Wear OS Watch
Today, Google provided insights into the upcoming Winter 2023 features for Android, focusing on Wear OS. Notably, the Google Home app will now offer manual Home/Away settings. For Wear OS, Google Home will allow users to set Home and Away status from the app’s top section. Moreover, enhanced controls will enable the activation or docking of compatible smart appliances, such as vacuums, directly from the watch interface. Additionally, users can now modify both the color and temperature of light groups, expanding beyond the simple on/off functionality.
A forthcoming Google Assistant feature for Wear OS, labeled as “coming soon,” will enable users to initiate Assistant Routines directly from their wrist.
Suppose you’ve set up a “commuting to work” routine for navigating, checking the weather, and getting your daily agenda. At any moment, simply say “Hey Google, commuting to work” to activate that routine, regardless of the time.
Simultaneously, Google is formalizing the Assistant At a Glance complication, initially introduced in June and subsequently enhanced with additional features and configurations during the Pixel Watch 2 launch.
TalkBack on Android devices now employs AI to generate and read descriptions aloud, and Live Caption will soon support additional languages. Additionally, Google previewed a feature allowing users to text responses during phone calls, read aloud for easy call handling without requiring vocal responses.
Moreover, users can now establish a personalized PIN for FIDO2 security keys on websites and apps requiring user verification. This added security measure, available on desktop Chrome, provides an extra layer of protection.
At last, Google TV introduces 10 additional free channels. Additionally, Gboard offers more Emoji Keyboard combinations, such as 📸 + 🤯 and 🌟 + 🍗.
