Nothing is kicking off the new year with a small hot fix geared towards addressing certain issues with its latest flagship phone.
As per Nothing’s announcement, update 2.5.1a is now being rolled out to all Phone (2) devices, boasting a 50MB download size. The primary fix involves resolving the “Glyph light playback effect when syncing with your device’s audio.” However, this fix appears to have generated mixed feedback from users. Some users have praised the company for rectifying the issue with the Phone (2)’s Glyph lighting during music playback, noting that it is noticeably brighter and displays a more efficient synchronization.
Conversely, another user has reported that this hot-fix has had the opposite effect on the sync playback feature. For them, their Glyph lights are turning off despite music still playing.
The update’s change-log concludes by stating its aim to “address freezing issues triggered by the App Locker in specific scenarios.”
Nothing further mentions that they are “gradually” releasing this update, implying that it won’t be simultaneously available to everyone. They recommend waiting a few days to see if the update becomes accessible. To check for the update, users can navigate to their phone’s Settings > System > System Updates.
This update continues to refine Nothing’s 2.5 OS, which was introduced to the Phone (2) along with its Android 14 skin. The earlier update brought various customization options for the Home Screen and Lock Screen. Users were able to explore background effects like glass and experience a new monochrome UI theme.
Moreover, the update focused on enhancing the Phone (2)’s Glyph Progress system by integrating Google Calendar. This integration allows users to track their saved events along with new Glyph Timer support.
